Account deletion
Sphagnum Database / Sphagnum Field Guide
You can request deletion of your Sphagnum Database account and associated personal data by contacting us from the email address connected to your account. This page is available without logging in, so you can still request deletion if you no longer have access to the app or website account area.
How to Request Deletion
Use the form below or email info@sphagnum-database.com. Please use the email address connected to your account where possible.
What Will Be Deleted
- Your login account and account profile data.
- Personal data associated with your account unless we must retain specific data for legitimate legal, security, abuse-prevention or scientific record-integrity reasons.
- Private app or website data stored on our server, where applicable.
What May Be Retained
Account deletion is not account freezing. We will delete or anonymize account data where possible. Some submitted scientific records may be retained if deletion would damage the integrity of the database, remove necessary attribution, break public observation records, or conflict with legal, security or abuse-prevention obligations. Where appropriate, retained records may be anonymized or have personal identifiers removed.
Processing Time
We will review deletion requests as soon as reasonably possible. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner before deleting data. If GDPR or similar laws apply, we aim to respond within the legally required period.
